Healthcare Professionals
Description
Research Methodology III course is an online course that includes two main parts; online modules and a virtual discussion meeting. The modules part is a 3-hour task that aims to simplify some important issues related to research methodologies. It is designed for postgraduate healthcare professionals who are considered as beginners in research. However, other candidates may enroll in this course as well.
Online workshop Outline
Module 1: sampling and sample size
Module 2: data collection methods & tools
Module 3: basics of bias in research
Module 4: basics of confounding and chance in research
Module 5: basic concepts of data analysis
The Virtual discussion meeting: this is a three-hour online meeting designed for the three Methodology courses (Research Methodology I, II, & III) in which participants are guided to apply the knowledge gained from the modules of the three Research Methodology courses in their research idea/projects.
The outlines for the Virtual discussion meeting includes:
Discussing goodness of the participants' research ideas/questions
Discussing study designs related to participants' projects
Discussing sampling and sample size related to their projects
Target Audience & registration:
Mainly OMSB Residents in early residency (preferably R1) who have not gotten ethical approval yet. OMSB trainers & Other health professionals may also be considered and can register thru the OMSB e-platform, or contacting the Research Section at OMSB (research@omsb.org).
Time:
This course is organized in every block (rotation) across the year. The online modules must be finished within the third week of each block, and the virtual discussion is conducted in the fourth week. OMSB residents are enrolled in this workshop during their first research block according to their master rotation. Residents who are assigned late research block can contact the OMSB Research section to undertake this workshop during R1. OMSB trainers and other health professionals should contact OMSB Research section for details at (research@omsb.org)
Duration:
The online modules part is around 3-4-hours task and can be finished within one day or scattered in different days within the one week period. In addition, this is accompanied by an online forum (for questions and answers) that extends for the corresponding week period. The Virtual discussion is a three-hour activity
