Surgical Foundation Program (SFP)
Description:
Surgical Foundation Program (SFP) will take place in your first academic year of surgical specialties. It is targeting all R1 residents from the surgical residency programs (General Surgery, ENT, Orthopedics & ObsGyne).
Upon completion of the SFP training period, You are expected to demonstrate competence in the management of the basic surgical cases.
Residents must demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and attitudes for effective patient-centered care and service to a diverse Omani population. In all aspects of specialist practice, the resident must be able to address issues of gender, age, culture and ethics in a professional manner.Objectives:
Establish and maintain clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to surgical practice.
Perform a complete and appropriate assessment of a surgical patient.
Use preventive and therapeutic interventions effectively.
Demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of procedural skills.
